How do I create, edit, or delete a repeating event?

Parents can select a repeating pattern of Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, or Every Weekday (Monday to Friday) when creating a recurring event.

Creating a Repeating Event

  1. Navigate to the Calendar
  2. Click the New Event icon by tapping +.
  3. Complete all of the required fields, which include: a title for the event, a start date and time for the event, and end date and time for the event. All other fields are optional, but you are encouraged to fill out those fields.
    • All Day: If the event you're entering is scheduled for all day, you can simply select this box rather than inputting "Start" and "End Date" information.
    • Optional fields include:
      • Event For: Indicate whether or not the event is for a particular parent.
      • Pick-Up and Drop-Off Parent: This will note which parent will be dropping off and picking up the child(ren) from the event. The start and end times for the event will be color-coded to indicate which parent is responsible.
      • Children: Indicate which children, if any, are involved with the event.
      • Location: Indicate where the event will take place.
      • Sharing: Events are set to shared by default. If you'd like to make it private so only you can see it, click the check box next to “Private”
      • Reminder: Set a reminder for yourself about this event.
      • Note: Add a brief note about the event.
  4. To create a repeating event, first input the Start Date and Time as well as the End Date and Time of the first instance of the event.
  5. Tap Repeat and specify repeating pattern for the event.
  6. After selecting the repeating pattern you will be prompted to select an End Date. You can select the repeating event to end on a specific date or after certain number or occurrences.
  7. If your repeating event does not follow one of OurFamilyWizard's pre-built options, you can select Custom. From here you can select the event to repeat every certain number of days. Then select when the repeating event ends, either on a specific date or after a specific number of occurrences.
  8. Tap Add to add the repeating event to your calendar.

Editing or Deleting Repeating Events

You have several options for editing any upcoming occurrences of a repeating event.

  1. Editing a single instance of the event: Click on the instance of the event you wish to update and select Edit. When finished, save your edits by clicking the Save for This Event Only button.
  2. Updating all future instances of an event: Click on the next upcoming instance of the event and select Edit. Save and update all future instances of this event by clicking on the Save for Future Events button.

You can also delete one single instance of the recurring event or all upcoming instances of the recurring event.

  1. First click on Delete
  2. Then select Delete This Event Only to delete the single instance, or Delete all Future Events to delete both the current instance and all instances thereafter.
    • Note: You can only edit or delete recurring events that are in the future. Additionally, you cannot edit the repeating pattern or duration settings for recurring events. If the repeating pattern or duration needs to be updated, delete all future instances of the event and recreate the entry.

Why can't I delete an event?

There are two reasons an event cannot be edited or deleted:

  • Your co-parent parent or someone else created the event.  You can only delete or edit events that you have created.
  • The event has started or passed.  Once an event becomes a historical record, it cannot be edited or deleted. This is done to protect the integrity of your information and historical record keeping. You can create journal entries on the calendar for both future and historical events.
